The Lautoka Municipal Market is governed by the Local Government Act 1976.

Daily operation is run by the Market Master

Market Location: bounded by Naviti, Vakabale and Yasawa streets, Lautoka

The Lautoka City Municipal Market caters to vendors, farmers and wholesalers from all regions of Vitilevu. The market has an exotic blend of fresh local and imported fruits, vegetables, spices and root crops, handicrafts and sweet sellers, selling fresh seafood and kai. The market also houses a Fishermen’s market where a wide variety of fish can be found.

The Market is a “One Stop Shop” near the Supermarket, Bus Station, Taxi Stand and Carries stand, Wheel Borrow Boys are there to assist customers and Parking space at the Mall. Can move freely as the Police Post is within the Market Space and the Market has CCTV.

1. Market Opening Hours:

The Lautoka Municipal Market is located in the heart of Lautoka City along Naviti, Vakabale and Yasawa streets, the daily operation of the Market is run by Market Manager.

The Lautoka City Municipal Market caters for vendors, farmers and wholesalers from all regions of Vitilevu and the maritime region. The market has an exotic blend of fresh local and imported fruits, vegetables, spices, root crops, handicrafts, sweets, seafood and kai. The market also houses a Fishermen’s market where a wide variety of fish can be found. In addition the Market has a 24 hour cooked food section where food is available throughout the day and night.

The Market is a “One Stop Shop” near the Supermarket, Bus Station, Taxi Stand and Carrier stand, Wheel Borrow services is available during the Market opening hours  to assist customers and vendors to cart their produce. Parking space at the Lautoka City Mall is conveniently located and allows for customers to park while shopping in the Market. The Market and bus station is thoroughly covered by 57 CCTV cameras and a Police Post.-

4. Casual Vendors (Farmers)

The farmers mostly women come to Lautoka Market to sell their produce from the highlands of Navosa right to Wainibuka and Ra. Lautoka Market caters for vendors and farmers from 14 province in Fiji. The farmers come to the Market to sell from Wednesday afternoon to Saturday. These farmers occupy spaces at the New Wing Market, Market Triangle and the Market corridors.

5. Juice and Sweet Cart

Juice – Fresh fruit juice are sold at Namoli Green
Sweet meat Cart –  Sweet meat carts are located at Namoli Green and in the Lautoka City Mall corridor vendors seel a variety of indian sweets which are also packed for overseas travel.

7. Namoli Green Food Market

Lautoka Municipal Market has a 24 hour cooked food market, which serves the people of Lautoka and the Visitors warm cooked food of wide variety, hot beverages and pastries 24 hours a day including on Sundays.

8. Where to park when you come to the market

2 levels of parking space is available for customer at the Sugar City Mall (Level 1 and Level 2), the security is present on both the levels during the Market opening hours.

9. Public Conveniences

3 public conveniences are located in and around the Market for vendors and the public with provisions for people with disability, this is a user pay convenience at a cost of $0.20

10. Mini Market (Tavakubu)

Lautoka City Council also operates a mini-market outside the CBD, located at the junction of Tavakubu Road and Sukanaivalu Road. This market is known as the Tavakubu Satellite Market and has 68 stalls operated by 34 vendors. This market provides service to citizens till late in the afternoon and also open on Sundays.

11. Market Waste Management

The Lautoka Market has a waste management initiative where green waste collected from the Market is largely recycled through animal feed and market waste composting.

Market waste is properly placed in the bins provided through Lautoka City Councils partners UN Women (Markets for Change Project) and Recycle Organics Project – Centre for Clean Air Policy (CCAP). The waste separation is done on site at Source mainly on the Garbage truck by the Market team.

The separated Market green waste is then transported to the Landfill site at Vunato where the composting takes place.
