Parks and Garden

The Parks and Gardens Department is an essential division of Council services, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beautification of the city. The department oversees the upkeep, maintenance, and overall aesthetic appeal of all parks, gardens, and green spaces within the city boundary. It also manages the maintenance and presentation of the world-class grounds and facilities at Churchill Park Main Stadium, along with other Council-operated sporting facilities.

Key Functions

Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is situated opposite Lautoka Hospital on a gentle slope, offering a harmonious blend of lush greenery and tranquility. Designed to showcase natural beauty, the garden provides visitors with a peaceful environment for relaxation and recreation.

Covering approximately 15 acres, the garden features a rich display of natural flora and serves as an important green space within the city. Best of all, entry to the Botanical Garden is free, making it an accessible and enjoyable destination for residents and visitors alike.

The Botanical Garden is currently undergoing an upgrade with the introduction of additional nurseries planned, inclusion of tropical flowering plants and landscaping plans for the uplift of the office and frontage, these upgrades will span over the next 12 months.

The garden also features a coffee shop, now operated under new lease ownership by Brew n Bites, providing refreshments and a welcoming space for visitors to relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery.

In addition to maintaining the Botanical Garden, the Parks and Gardens Department also provides tree trimming and pruning services throughout the city boundary. These services help ensure public safety, maintain healthy tree growth, improve streetscape appearance, and reduce hazards caused by overgrown or damaged trees.

Nadovu Grounds

Nadovu Grounds consist of a multi-sport facility designed to support a range of sporting and recreational activities within the Lautoka area.

The grounds include:

  • 3 rugby/soccer pitches used for training, local competitions, school sports, and community matches
  • 2 grass hockey turfs used for hockey training, tournaments, school events, and development programs

These facilities play an important role in supporting grassroots sport development and providing accessible sporting spaces for the community.

Children’s Park

Children’s Park in Lautoka is a family-friendly public recreational space designed specifically for children and community use. The park provides a safe and welcoming environment where children can play, explore, and engage in outdoor activities.

The park typically features children’s play equipment such as swings, slides, and climbing structures, along with open green spaces suitable for casual games and family gatherings. Shaded seating areas allow parents and guardians to supervise comfortably while enjoying the surroundings.
