What are Parking Permits?

  1. The council has obliged to public demand to provide discounted rate to those motorist wanting to park their motor vehicles on a monthly basis or more at parking meters or car parks that is under council care. This has been passed through council resolution and is not obligated to be implemented by law as a concession in the local government act.
  2. The permit is paid in advance prior to month of use e.g. June 26 for month of July so on and so forth even up to a year where discount is also given.
  3. The permit is for one use only, where it is non-transferable to another vehicle or a car park permit being used outside at parking meters and vice-versa.
  4. Parking for 8 hours cost (8 hour*95=)$7.60 daily whereas monthly cost on parking permit is ($80.00/24 days aver)= $3.33 day

How can public apply for Parking Permits?

  1. The applicant needs to present a written letter or email to the council addressed to the CEO and cc to the Parking Meter Supervisor with email address to
    pmd@lautokacitycouncil.com.fj.
  2. The application is almost approved immediately, unless there is a record known to council, that may need clearance for arrears, or any other issues that is legally constricting the approval to such application.

How to Pay Your Parking Meter Infringement Notice and Parking Permits?

Note: Please state your Parking Meter Infringement Notice Number and the Vehicle Registration Number on the narrations while payment.

What Happens If I Do Not Pay My Parking Meter Infringement Fine?

The Parking Meter Infringement notice is fixed penalty of $10.00 if the initial fine is not paid within 90 days from date of notice, you will be liable to a late payment fee equivalent to 50% of the Fixed Penalty, in addition to the Fixed Penalty.

If you do not pay your Fixed Penalty and late payment fee in full within 12 months from the date this Notice is issued to you, this Notice will take effect as a conviction and the Council will seek the maximum penalty and demerit points applicable, from the court.

What to do if my Parking Meter is not functioning?

Upon slotting of necessary coins if the parking meter is not functioning, move your vehicle to another meter.

However, if you are issued with an infringement notice and the parking meter is faulty then immediately produce the infringement notice at the Parking Meter Office at the Civic Centre between 8am to 4.30pm or email the Parking Meter Supervisor at
pmd@lautokacitycouncil.com.fj
for assistance.

15 minutes = $0.25
30 minutes = $0.45
45 minutes = $0.70
60 minutes = $0.95

Tappoo City East/West Car Parks

60 Minutes = $2.00 Flat Rate

Tukani Car Park

Private Cars = $0.45
Other Private Cars not exceeding 2000kg = $0.55
Commercial Vehicles = $0.65 per hour
