The Engineering Department ensures that the developments in the City are in compliance with the Council’s development plans, Town Planning Regulations, subdivisions of land bylaws under the Local Government Act Cap 125 and other relevant by laws that enable the Council to enforce and maintain compliance with Planning & Development requirements.
Key Functions include: –
Approve subdivision scheme plans, rezoning applications, engineering plans, survey plans, prepare budgets for capital projects and ensure that proper maintenance of all Council properties, infrastructure and service amenities

The council with the approval of the Ministry of Local Government allocates a budget to undertake capital projects for infrastructure development and to improve the lively hood of all Fijians and in return generate added revenue for the council.
